The Office of Economic Planning, Data Processing and Statistics announced the monthly summary of the main updates of the statistics relating to :

Population
Business

Tourism

At July 31 2011, the resident population was 32,075 units, 44 more than in June and 258 more than in July 2010. The present population, which in the resident population also includes people with a residence permit, amounted to 33,381 units, 5 more than the previous month and 277 more than in July 2010.

The business downward trend has been stepped up: total business to July 31 2011 was 5,472,  324 units less than in June and 434 units less than in July 2010. A reduction so important in the month of July is due to the suspension of many licenses for non-payment of license fee in accordance with Article 76 Law 130/2010 modified by art. 16 of Law No 5/9/2010 179, and under Article 26 paragraph 1 point and the Law 129 of 23/7/2011.

The employees to July 31 2011 were 19,811, a decrease of 404 workers compared to July 2010. Last year the private sector and the public sector recorded a decrease, respectively of 360 and 44 employees. Although the self-employed decreased by 46 units, but also in this case, this important decrease could be due to the same reasons that have affected businesses listed above.
The total employment rate in the last year has lost 2.15 points, while the rate of domestic employment has lost 0.07 points highlighting how the largest fall in employment has occurred in foreign nationals working in San Marino.

The total unemployed and the real unemployed are being increased by 52 and 51 from July 2010 to July 2011. In the 552 real unemployed at July 31, 2011, 170 were aged between 20 and 29 years, while, as the title of the study, 178 have a high school diploma and 93 have graduated.
As to data on employment and unemployment, a correct comparison is possible only by reference to the same month of different years, as these data are affected by seasonality.

In July 2011 the tourist flow was equal to 299,079 visitors, a increase of 8.0% over the same month in 2010.
