Industrial Production Press release - October 2011


Industrial Production seasonally adjusted, decreased by ‐0,3% in October 2011 with respect September 2011.

The Industrial Production Index as compared to October 2010 increased by +4,7%, (twenty‐one days for the month of October 2011, twenty for the month of October 2010).

In comparing the data of October 2011 with that of the previous month, the most important increases regard the following economic activities:

  • “Manufacture of pulp, paper and aperboard and paper products” +2,4%,
  • “Manufacture of machinery and equipment” +2,6%,
  • “Wood and wood products and cork, except furniture, manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials” +3,0%,
  • “Manufacture of wearing apparel; preparation and dyeing of fur” +2,5%.

Decreases were seen in the following activities:

  • “Manufacture of rubber and plastics” ‐3,4%,
  • “Publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media” ‐3,8%,
  • “Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers” ‐1,9%,
  • “Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment” ‐4,4%,
  • “Manufacture of chemical and man‐made fibers” ‐6,1%.

In comparing October 2011 with that of 2010, the majors increases were seen in the activities of:

  • “Manufacture of pulp, paper and paperboard and paper products” +10,1%,
  • “Wood and wood products and cork, except furniture, manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials” +5,8/%,
  • “Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers” +12,9%,
  • “Manufacture of rubber and plastics” +1,5%,
  • “Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment” +3,8%,
  • “Manufacture of machinery and equipment” +6,5%,
  • “Manufacture of electrical machinery and apparatus nec” +3,1%,
  • “Manufacture of chemical and man‐made fibers” +8,8%.

Decreases were seen in the following activities:

  • “Manufacture of wearing apparel; preparation and dyeing of fur” ‐48,6%,
  • “Manufacture of mineral products processing” ‐7,2%,
  • “Publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media” ‐9,8%.
